Merry Christmas!

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is always welcoming to receive project updates from our colleagues in Uganda and Rwanda. The newly relocated MCH Centre in Nyabwina has had a sharp increase in the number of visits of mothers ready to welcome their newborns into the world. In September, for example, there were 20 deliveries, which is up significantly. The Sisters stated the relocation of the centre provides security, privacy and expectant mothers are able to move around comfortably, and knowing that the centre is equipped with modern equipment. The Sisters were happy to inform us that the mothers who come for antenatal checkups have increased rapidly from 20-25 to 71 per month.

More needs to be done. We will improve the MCH Centre with renovations as well as provide a separate maternity unit. The Sisters wish list includes an ultra sound machine to help to identify mothers that may have any complications.

In September, MaterCare International held our 11th International Rome Conference, “Mothers are Women Too”, featuring expert speakers from various ethical disciplines from around the world. 85 Participants from 17 different countries took part in the conference. The 12th International Rome Conference is scheduled for September 2024.

TOGETHER, we CAN save the lives of mothers and their children.

By completing the donation form here and becoming part of our giving community, you are ensuring that mothers and their families receive the best possible care to overcome preventable maternal deaths through access to essential obstetrics.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy and Holy Christmas!

Sincerely,

Simon Walley
